The Portuguese word Sossegado, along with many others, is still often used in Konkani, “Goa’s” official language. Often misunderstood to mean lazy, the dictionary defines sossegado as “quiet, restful, assured, at peace”. It means taking time to enjoy the good things in life and a very sane refusal to be rushed.
